Healing is such a big topic in our vocabulary today. And why not? We live in a world where many people are living a lot longer than ever before. It’s no wonder that healing is at the forefront of our social consciousness. It’s also no surprise that people are talking about non-traditional ideas like consciousness and healing.
The Consciousness and Healing Project
One project that focuses on bringing consciousness into traditional healthcare is the Consciousness and Healing Project from the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS). The institute is a non-profit organization that performs research and creates new understandings on the nature of reality. Research is performed in areas such as consciousness transformation and the interaction of consciousness with the physical world. The Consciousness and Healing project is one of many research efforts in IONS. Here is a description of this project from IONS.
“Through a series of meetings hosted by the Institute of Noetic Sciences and the Esalen Center for Theory and Research we have created a dynamic working group that has focused on assessing the state of the art in integrating consciousness into healing and healthcare settings, identifying strategies for overcoming barriers to that integration, and developing plans for strategically forwarding a more holistic and integral healthcare paradigm.”
New Medical Technologies and Consciousness Research
We’ve been making great strides in areas of diagnostic medical technology. New technologies combined with non-traditional ideas of healing can provide great holistic tools to identify and combat disease. Medical centers and health practitioners are more frequently embracing a holistic approach to healing. That includes a combination of medical technologies and a focus on consciousness and well-being.
