Lying on the Cool Grass
It’s interesting how we connect our physical, mother earth to the spiritual world. For millennia, we have held our mother earth in sacred reverence. Religions and myths throughout the ages regard our earth as a symbol of birth, growth, and burial.
I remember when I was a child I would lie on the grass, my arms spread wide, and gaze up at the immense sky.
I remember the dark green blades softly supporting my young body, buoying my arms, and cradling my head.
I remember the coolness of the earth drawing itself up and meeting my skin. Working its way into me slowly, without thought. Perhaps seeking those it would gather much later. A time later when it would renew that friendship accepted long ago that was so cooling, yet now so absolute and eternal.
